The Savannah area has always been a cornerstone of historic beauty and culture. Today is no exception to that. From the breath taking architecture to the cobble stone streets there is no short supply for sight-seeing in the city. As beautiful as Savannah is there is more than meets the eye in this historic beauty.
Savannah is and always has been a close knit community. And it’s no secret that we at times like to party but there is a side to Savannah that only the locals see. Every Saturday morning, the locals host a farmer’s market in Forsyth Park under the mossy oaks Savannah is so famous for. The market is a strong hub of community activity that supports health among the local foodies. While this happens every Saturday morning, there are also events that are specific to the time of year.
This May, Savannah has a smorgasbord of cultural events to choose from. Probably the most exciting of these events is happening May 6-8th on River Street. The River Street Seafood Festival is one of River Street’s longest running and most anticipated events of the year! Munch on local shrimp, oysters, crab and crawfish while listening to live music along the beautiful Savannah River. On Friday night, enjoy fireworks as they blaze the sky above the river! So bring the kids.
If a romantic night with that special someone is something you had in mind Savannah has just the thing on May 13th. Pianist Alexander Korbrin will be wowing the audience with his performance at the Messiah Lutheran Church. His prize winning performances have been praised for their brilliant technique, musicality and emotional engagement with the audience. The concert will feature works of Shuman, Brahms and Schubert. And for the wild and crazy Join Southbound Brewing Co, a Savannah beer brewery, as they celebrate their third anniversary! Live music with the very talented Velvet Caravan, a local gypsy jazz band, and friends. See work by local artists, grab souvenirs vendors and dig in with the help of fresh food trucks! Whether you’re a beer enthusiast or simply just want to relax – this is the event for you!
While Savannah may look like a quiet historic town there is always more than meets the eye here. Savannah is a city on the rise and is always booming with life and a good time.
